Helios Eclipse Epilogue

I was walking around the mall to survey the price of an internal data card reader for my computer when I though I would just drop by the book store to see if there are any new interesting books. Several glance through the shelves and I was kind of convinced that it was the same as several days ago when I last checked so I was about to leave when I suddenly felt like using the electronic search kiosk to see if there are anything hidden that I might be interested in, oh whadaya know~

Helios Eclipse Epilogue, the final book in the looong running series and also my final connection with the local comics scene. It showed there was 40 stocks available on the screen but I can’t see any on the shelves. So I asked the customer service desk and they promptly went into the store room behind and got one out for me… It wasn’t even placed out yet lol! I haven’t looked it up online before leaving for the mall but a check a moment ago showed the official site haven’t even updated to show this new book too. Now I’m thinking maybe I got it before its planned release…

Well anyway, as for the contents, it ends the series pretty well. Several clues posed in the past are finally pulled together and explained; some I didn’t even remember until it was mentioned. But <spoilers ahead, highlight to read>I can’t help but feel that Soileh’s change of heart in the end feels kind of forced… I mean, he was bent on destroying all of existence from sheer vengence for the past 7 books. What’s Helios saving him once is going to make him turn a new leaf instantly? But other than that, the final climax was pretty cool. Also with how the story had been developing from the past volumes, it had been very likely that the series would have ended with a sad ending so the sudden plot twist in this one that resulted in a happy one was kind of interesting. I do like plot twists after all :P</spoiler> And now with this series over I have finally lost all my ties to the local comic scene… again… until Kaoru release another book that is, or if something else interesting catches my attention.

Maybe I’ll get it along with my next orders in a month or two if I don’t find it anywhere else first. Also…

holy crap! Now what did I say about Helios Eclipse in English being a matter of time? It’s RM10:50 for one… the one I had was RM7.50 for one. That’s almost 50% increment! >_> But if you were to compare with all the other US import it’s still cheaper by almost if not over 66% so it’s still ok on a global point of view. Locally however… WTF.

P.S. don’t mind me if you don’t get what I said. I’m just a little high on boredom. Alternatively, here’s a super sad Kagamine Rin song to let you have some emotional feast.

Last minute shopping

lol, did one entry after I got back and I’m lazy again.

Went to Sunway Pyramid today to get some new clothes for the CNY. While I was at it, I decided to look around for my marketing research as well as keep an eye out for Helios Eclipse Hexad, which I found by the way. I also got the final part of Le.Gardenie along with it.

About damn time...

I will be leaving for Ipoh again next Monday. No sure when I’ll be back this time, probably before Friday but who knows.

What the… I just got Helios Eclipse Quintet the other day and now there is Helios Eclipse Hexad already!? Damn…

Apparently, Quintet was out since August and Hexad came up about two weeks ago on the 20th of December… just 11 days after my previous manga buying trip. I guess I lagged several months for Quintet. meh…

Things got pretty interesting by the end of Quintet as well. (yandere nekomimi maid lmao) Now, should I just go to Kinokuniya (as it seems that’s the only place with an updated manga library these days) just for this or should I put it back till I go there for all the other mangas I’m planning to order?

oh, another thing; seems like Gempakstarz decided to start doing English releases, including some re-releases of older publications that was previously only available in Malay.

I have the Malay version for this one. Good stuff.

Now while I’m not saying I particularly dislike the Malay language nor do I have any trouble comprehending it, I do have a slight preference towards English if given a choice. I don’t know how to feel now that they have decided to release books that I used to believe was Malay only in English several years later, it’s kind of a mix between feeling surprised, feeling happy, feeling betrayed, and being confused, all at once, with several other feelings I couldn’t put a finger at in my current drowsy condition. Also, the English editions costs 2 bucks higher compared to their Malay counter-parts. Makes me wonder if a late market was really worth all the work translating and republishing to. I would think that the major target market, the fans, most probably would have gotten the ones they like when it first came out in Malay already so re-releasing now would only mean catering to the sub-target markets who have not gotten the Malay ones yet. Of course, there WILL be some hardcore fans who would be getting an English copy regardless even though they already own the Malay version but that’s besides the point. Alas, that is all just how I see it.

So far, there are only a handful that was released in English and I have yet to see Helios Eclipse in English yet. I guess I can give up on the thought about scanlating Helios Eclipse once and for all if they do release it in the future, though I do love to actually see an English Helios Eclipse in print.

December batch 1

Went to KLCC today to get my mangas that arrived the other day despite that final book have not arrived yet. I guess I’ll just stack it together with another 2 mangas for the second trip later this month.

Things I didn’t saw coming: Full Moon Joker, Le.Gardenie Party of Three, Helios Eclipse Quintet.

That is especially so for Helio Eclipse, since they mentioned within the previous volume that the next upcoming volume should be out somewhere during 2009. So it was kind of a surprise to see it on the shelves today. I never knew when the next installation of the Le.Gardenie series would be released though. This one was another surprise. But now that I think about it, the last one was indeed very long ago so I supposed it wouldn’t be too weird that the next volume should be out around now. As for Full Moon Joker, well, it was another impulsive purchase, yeah. >_<

Then I also got some free postcards by the publisher company of Le.Gardenie and Helio Eclipse, probably for buying multiple of their publishes.

Of all, Omamori Himari vol 4 is the most tempting one in the bunch… despite that I have not read vol 3 yet >__> I won’t be reading it yet of course, I hate spoilers.

Oh, speaking of Omamori Himari vol 3; my friend who helped me get hold of a copy of it will be returning this coming Sunday so I should be able to read it within a weeks time, most likely next Tuesday.
